In today’s beauty obsessed culture we don’t always do what is best for our bodies. The media promotes quick solutions to weight loss, skin and hair care. However, these shortcuts are increasingly growing the numbers of skin disorders and hair loss.
Gloria Fort has been a licensed cosmetologist in Gwinnett county for more than 15 years where her mantra has always been: “Hair care, hair care, hair care!”
Yet the escalating incidents of hair loss and scalp disorders among her clients, sent her on a search for answers. What she discovered at the end of her quest is tricology - the scientific study of hair and scalp disorders, including dandruff, psoriasis and baldness.
“What a lot of people don’t realize is that our hair and skin are extensions of what we’re doing to our bodies. When we exercise poor nutrition and have stressful lives, our hair and scalp become direct reflections of the chaos,” she said.
“It’s almost impossible to have healthy hair if you’re not a healthy person.”
Fort became a certified tricologist to enlighten others on the ways living a healthy lifestyle can contribute to improved skin conditions and prevent baldness and breakage even for those with a family history of the symptoms.
